Leap In!
Energetic movers age 3+ will explore creative movement working with stuffed animals, balls, parachutes, streamers, and exciting obstacle courses for them to gallop, skip, and leap over. This is a very popular program for preschoolers. Our classes are fun and make learning dance a truly creative experience that benefits the children’s fine motor skills, coordination, musicality, and expressiveness. Please bring a favorite stuffed animal!
Youth Ballet
Designed for 4 to 5+ year olds as a prance and play class for young movers with imagination. We continue to develop the creative dance experience used in Leap In, but also introduce a little more structure and discipline in the young dancer. Youth Ballet progresses from learning the first and second body positions to learning all five body positions. The knowledge of these positions is the foundation to our ballet program. It is invaluable for a normal student to spend two years in this level. Children learn the joy of movement with emphasis on rhythm, coordination, and flexibility. Basic ballet positions and terminology are introduced while interacting with other children in a positive environment which add to the child’s sense of self awareness.
Ballet
Young dancers will progress in their understanding of correct body placement, balance, and ballet movement at the barre and continue into the center. Traveling ballet steps (the seven steps of dance: Walking, running, hopping, sliding, leaping, jumping, and turning) will be studied, as well as proper ballet technique and work habits. Students will be challenged with increased complexity as they advance through the levels. Additional studies in the area of turns and exploring complex turning combinations involving diagonals will be added as technique at the barre improves. The allegro studies will focus on learning how to move quickly through clean technical habits and clarity. Our ballet levels follow our studio syllabus.
Intermediate and Advanced Ballet
Classes at these levels are for dancers who have been invited by an instructor. They are reserved for the mature dancer continuing ballet studies for recreation or serious pre-professional work. The classes focus on challenging a dancer technically, creatively, and artistically. Dancers will be encouraged to move beyond the classical ballet technique, learning how to individually express themselves as unique performers. At times instructors may use a variety of music as well as contemporary approaches to this ballet class to make it fun and engaging.
Musical Theater Dance for kids
This class is designed for dancers and actors who love to perform. Fine-tune audition techniques, learn vocal breathing, theater training, and explore the choreography from the popular musicals. Basic ballet will be taught as well as tap.
Musical Theater Dance for teens and adults
Ever dreamed of performing in Moulin Rouge, A Chorus Line, Fame, Grease, Mamma Mia, Les Miserable, Jekyll and Hyde, Saturday Night Fever, Cabaret, Chicago, or West Side Story? Our class prepares dancers for auditions with basic tap, classic musical choreography, dance technique, and vocal training. Whether a performer or just love connecting with fun choreography, this class helps fulfill personal goals as a dancer and prepares for the stage. Basic ballet will be taught as well as tap.
Body Sculpting Ballet
Enjoy the calm of ballet with the sculpting results of yoga and Pilates. Each class will focus on strengthening the dancers with relaxation, lengthening, and resistant exercises for a beautifully toned body. Loosen tight muscles, stretch cramped joints, and enjoy the art of ballet. (adult punch card)
balletmore cardio
Involving aerobic cardio, hip hop, jazz, and salsa dancing. This class integrates special movements that strengthen the core, while toning arms, legs, butt, and abs. Get fit and have fun! This class also provides gentle stretching as a cool down.
Jazz/Hip Hop
Learn basic movements, a variety of dance patterns, and a twist of hip hop and funk. With great music and fun choreography, dancers get a sneak peak into this thriving contemporary dance style! Jazz technique is also incorporated into this class as well as conditioning for body placement. All levels are welcome.
Modern/Contemporary Technique
This class will focus on space, time, energy and the individual dancers body in motion, building on the foundations of modern dance and improvisation with a ballet influence. Intention, weight, artistry, risk and a dynamic approach to technical dance movements will be explored. Full body center warm up with an emphasis on proper alignment will lead to across the floor and center floor combinations.
balletmore believes in challenging individuals at their appropriate ability through proper technique, positive encouragement, discipline and focus. Our goal as a studio is to build an appreciation for a fine art, expose young dancers to the joy of movement and build life long skills for individuals continuing their studies of classical ballet.
We believe that levels are not the most significant part of a dancer's training. Rather, a well rounded and balanced curriculum of ballet technique. It is no longer sufficient to have been trained exclusively within one school (Soviet, French, Italian, Balanchine/American, English, or Danish).
To be adequately prepared for a professional career or attend classes in a professional setting, dancers need some exposure to ALL the schools of classical ballet to meet the technical demands of the sport. The balletmore faculty utilizes unique, strength-building aspects of each school and integrates a blending of styles within the studio classes.
